Great pics!  It is definitely on my list the next time I'm in SLC area.  I've heard its a bit of an adventure to get there in January.  The fall foliage is hard to plan in advance.  I usually leave a postcard at the nearest ranger station.  Most are accustomed to handling requests for mailing post cards as soon as the leaves start changing.

BTW, I believe you can just hit "Additional options..." when you modify your original post to add more photos.  It says you can have up to 4.  Also, if they are online somewhere you can click on the "insert image" icon above the smiley faces while you are posting and place the url between the img tags it inserts for you.  I like the "Additional Options..." approach as it is easier on people with narrow bandwidth and it does not require you to to mess with using another web host.

That is one nice set of primitive hot pools. Great masonry. I wonder what minerals are making the funky cloudy blue color.

Hiked into the springs on Wed. 3/26/2008. The upper road still had some snow and ice in spots for the last half mile to the lower parking lot. The parking lot was covered in snow and ice with a few bare spots and some mud. In fact when I returned from the springs, two girls who had hiked out as I was hiking in were stuck in the parking lot. They had a honda accord and had gotton high centered trying to drive out of the parking lot and then the tires just would spin. Another group of people were helping and they finally were able to drive out to the road just after I returned to the lot. There are still alot of small rocks on the road with the snow and ice.

The hike to the springs took an hour without any rest stops for me. There is still snow in spots on the trail. It is spotty on the lower trail, about half covered in some snow, The upper trail, after the bridge, has some large deep snow drifts across the trail. For the most part, the snow is hard enough to walk on the top. A few times off to the sides I did sink in. On the upper trail, snow is almost a constant. There are some clear areas on the upper trail, but not many. But all in all, it wasn't too bad. The trails by the springs are all clear of snow. I passed three groups of people coming down the trail as I was hiking in. When I got to the springs, I had the area all to myself. The pools were great, the water temperature just right, and it was fairly clean. I didn't go to the upper pools, but one couple hiking out had been in those and said they were great. They did warn me about a fairly large group in the lower pools. But these were the other people I passed on the upper trail. With a little bit of warmer weather, the rest of the snow should melt off the trail. This will make the hike a little easier. Steam flows are up from last fall, but the spring run-off hasn't hit here yet. Need that extra warm weather.
